In December 2022, Nickelodeon asked more than 800 kids, ages 8-13, if they felt they had the power to change today\u2019s issues \u2013 46% answered no. Kids\u2019 belief in their ability to influence change isn\u2019t necessarily due to a lack of confidence, want, or need, but may instead stem from a lack of compelling and accessible pathways to engage in change. Even on a smaller scale, 69% of kids said they didn\u2019t know about ways they, as kids, could get involved with their communities. <\/span><\/p>\n

4. For Kids, It Starts with Small Actions<\/span><\/p>\n

While many kids feel helpless when it comes to the big things, they do see an opportunity to influence change in familiar environments where they feel in control. For example, they feel confident in their ability to create change around bullying – which is also one of their top concerns. <\/span><\/p>\n
