When you tire of your basic Christmas ball ornaments, try these felt\u00a0TMNT ones. They\u00a0make for the gnarliest trees, dude!<\/p>\n

\nWhat You’ll Need<\/strong><\/p>\n

2 Sheets of green felt<\/p>\n

1 Sheet each of red, purple, orange, blue felt, cut into 1.5″\u00a0strips<\/p>\n

4 Colored threads (red, purple, orange, blue)<\/p>\n

2 Embroidery flosses (pink, green)<\/p>\n

8 Black 0.25″\u00a0beads<\/p>\n

2 Needles (1 large, 1 small)<\/p>\n

Several round pearl-head pins<\/p>\n

Scissors<\/p>\n

Sharpie<\/p>\n

Cup (diameter about 3.25″)<\/p>\n

Synthetic stuffing<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

How to Make<\/strong>
\n\"TMNT<\/p>\n

Step One:<\/strong>\u00a0Make the turtle’s head: Trace the cup onto the green felt with\u00a0a\u00a0Sharpie and cut the circle out (do this twice)<\/p>\n

Step Two:\u00a0<\/strong>Place the two cut circles on top of each other. Using the large\u00a0needle, blanket stitch the cut circular felts to each other around\u00a0the edges with the green embroidery floss. Stop when you reach 2\/3 of the way around the circle.<\/p>\n

Step Three:\u00a0<\/strong>Make the bandanna:\u00a0Cut an orange bandanna strip to 6″ in length. Fold it in half, width-wise, and cut it into a leaf shape, leaving\u00a0the\u00a0folded edge attached.<\/p>\n

Step Four:\u00a0<\/strong>Cut another orange\u00a0bandanna strip to 8.5″ in length. Tie the 6″ piece around the middle of the 8.5″ strip.<\/p>\n

Step Five:\u00a0<\/strong>Position\u00a0the bandanna across the middle\u00a0of your turtle’s head,\u00a0aligning the ends of the strips with the un-stitched 1\/3 of the head. Tack the bandanna down with round\u00a0pearl-head pins.<\/p>\n

Step Six:\u00a0<\/strong>Using the small needle, dart stitch the bandanna down onto the top green circle using the orange\u00a0thread,\u00a0being careful not to stitch the two green circles together.<\/p>\n

Step Seven\u00a0<\/strong>Make\u00a0the mouth: Using the small needle, do a\u00a0split stitch with\u00a0the pink embroidery\u00a0floss.<\/p>\n

Step Eight:<\/strong>\u00a0Stuff the green circle until it is very firm.<\/p>\n

Step Nine:\u00a0<\/strong>Tuck the excess from the bandanna strip inside and sew it shut.<\/p>\n

\"TMNT<\/strong><\/p>\n

Step Ten:\u00a0<\/strong>Sew\u00a0the eyes: Start from back and pull the bead tight until it looks like a tufted pillow. Sew through several times to\u00a0ensure security. Repeat for\u00a0other eye.<\/p>\n

Step Eleven:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Sew\u00a0a\u00a0loop on at the top of the head.<\/p>\n

Step Twelve:\u00a0<\/strong>You’re done with Michelangelo! Repeat steps 1 through 12 with the other colored bandannas for Leonardo, Donatello, and Raphael!<\/p>\n
