Here’s a special make-together treat to enjoy while watching your little genie’s favorite episodes of Shimmer and Shine<\/em>: cookies to look just like the magical gems of Zahramay Falls!<\/p>\n

What You’ll Need
\n<\/strong>Sugar roll cookie dough
\nFlour
\nGem templates (print below!)
\nCookie cutters
\nIcing pen
\nWhite buttercream frosting
\nPink and blue royal icing
\nPink and blue sanding sugar
\nPink and blue edible glitter
\nClean paintbrush
\nRolling pin<\/p>\n

How to Make<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Shimmer<\/p>\n

Step One:\u00a0<\/strong>Print and cut the template for the jewel cookies.<\/p>\n

Step Two:\u00a0<\/strong>Preheat the oven according to the baking directions for your sugar cookie dough package.<\/p>\n

Step Three:\u00a0<\/strong>Sprinkle the counter with flour and roll out your dough.\u00a0Dip cookie cutters in flour and cut geometric\u00a0shapes\u00a0out of the dough.\u00a0<\/strong>For special gem-shaped cookies, use \u00a0the printable template as a cutting guide by placing it over dough and cutting around it with a sharp knife (parents should do this step!).<\/p>\n

Step Four:\u00a0<\/strong>Bake according to directions on the package. Allow to cool completely.<\/p>\n

Step Five: <\/strong>Once\u00a0cool, apply a coat of royal icing.\u00a0Before icing sets, sprinkle gently with edible glitter or generously with sanding sugar.<\/p>\n

Step Six: <\/strong>Here’s the fun part for your little one:\u00a0Experiment with color mixing by using pink sanding sugar over blue royal icing and vice versa.\u00a0Once base coat is set, pipe buttercream frosting gem details on with icing pens! Use the photos for reference, or get creative on your own.<\/p>\n
